Pelemix, a global leader in innovative coco coir substrate based solutions, announced today the expansion of its operations in Sri Lanka with the opening of a new facility dedicated to processing and drying coconut husks. This strategic investment strengthens the company’s vertical integration and represents a first step in a broader plan to expand similar initiatives, further enhancing Pelemix’s its ability to deliver high-quality, sustainable growing media to professional growers worldwide.
The new site will broaden Pelemix’s ability to secure a stable and consistent supply of coir raw materials, improve quality control, and increase efficiency in the production chain. By expanding its local presence, Pelemix reinforces Sri Lanka’s role as a cornerstone of its global supply network.
«This expansion marks another milestone in our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and supply reliability,» said Maninder Bakshi, Pelemix VP of Global Operations. «By investing in husk processing and drying capabilities on the ground in Sri Lanka, we strengthen our vertical integration and ensure that Pelemix’s growers around the world benefit from substrates of consistent quality and performance».
“Pelemix global customers – including growers of vegetables, berries, flowers, and other horticultural crops – will gain from a
more resilient supply chain, faster response times, and enhanced product availability” noted Tal Brod, Pelemix CEO. “This expansion reflects Pelemix’s long-term strategy to grow its operations in key coconut-producing regions and to further position itself as a trusted partner for customers worldwide”.
